Annual Allotment Show and Flower & Vegetable Competition
Thank you for supporting the 2021 Competition. This year’s event is smaller and socially distant for the heath and safety of exhibitors and organisers alike in what has turned out to be an exceedingly difficult 2021. We have tried to make the competition run as smoothly as possible with minimal restriction, but if difficulties arise, please be patient and speak to a committee member.
Staging of exhibits and social distance
Class 1. Associations must prepare exhibits prior to arrival at Bordesley Green, there will be no facilities for exhibit assembly. Only the exhibitor and 1 assistant (at the organiser’s discretion) will be allowed in the pavilion for final adjustment.
All preparation of flowers displays is to be carried out in the marquee provided. Only the exhibitor and 1 assistant (at the organiser’s discretion) will be allowed in the pavilion for final adjustment.
All Vegetables exhibits must be prepared prior to arrival at Bordesley Green there will be no facilities for vegetable preparation. Only the exhibitor and 1 assistant (at the organiser’s discretion) will be allowed in the pavilion for final adjustment.
Exception for Class 3 Exhibit can be assembled on show bench, but exhibitor is required to liaise with show steward prior to starting assembly.
Car Parking for staging exhibits Friday 13th only
The Car Park in front of the pavilion will be reserved for exhibitor’s, please park your car as instructed by the steward and when you have staged your exhibit, please move your vehicle to an alternative car park.
There is adequate parking for everyone, there will be a steward supervising parking if you are disabled and require assistance please speak to the steward.
Access to Competition benches for exhibitors from 8.00am until 4.00pm Friday 13th August 2021.
Competition Arena will be closed for judging at 4.00pm Friday 13th August 2021.
Only those persons officially appointed shall be present during the judging of exhibits
Competition Arena will open, to view for exhibitors and interested Persons from 9.00am Saturday 14th August 2021.
No exhibit is to be removed before 5.00pm on Saturday 14th August 2021.
Competition Closes 5.00pm Saturday 14th August 2021.
Any Item to be retained by the exhibitor must be removed by 5.30pm Saturday 14th August 2021.
Prizes Because of social distancing there will be no presentation during Competition. Awards and cheques can be collected from the Show Treasurer after the show closes or arrangements can be made for delivery after Competition.
All unclaimed exhibits will be donated to a Food Bank Charity.

Update February 20/02/2021
It has been confirmed that there will be a single event for 2021.
Flower, Fruit & Vegetable Competition for 2021.
It will be a restricted event dependant on social distancing at the time of the event.
Date: The event is to be held on the weekend of 14th August 2021.
Venue: Bordesley Green will be the venue for 2021 Vegetable Competition.
To accommodate the smaller event a reduced version of the schedule for 2021 has been produced.
Associations/Societies: 2 classes.
For Plotholders: 28 Vegetable classes, 10 Flower classes, 4 fruit classes, 5 heaviest classes, 2 children’s classes.
Prize monies for 2021 have been reduced, this will only apply to 2021 and at present there is no plan to make it permanent.
Trophies: None of the BDAC trophies will be awarded in 2021 and are to be replaced with 2021 medals (see schedule for details)
Presentation: There will be NO Official Presentation because of social distancing requirements, cheques and medals can be collected from Show treasurer at close of competition or sent by post.

Update November 2020 :- As you are aware it is with much regret the decision to cancel the 2020 Annual Allotment Show at the MAC, due to the uncertainties caused by the coronavirus situation and financial penalties that we would occur by late cancellation.
Because of the continuing uncertainties over the length of time it will take to get the vaccine rolled out and how long the coronavirus restrictions will be in place for 2021 The decision has been made to postpone the 2021 show until August 2022.
It it is the intention to hold a smaller informal events one for Vegetables and a second for Flowers these will be held before the end of the 2021 growing season, I will keep you informed when anything is proposed.
