“The recent BDAC AGM in May was marked by the departure of Clive Birch and Barbara Smith who both stood down as (respectively) Chair and Secretary following periods of unstinting service. This covered a combined total service exceeding 40 years. The BDAC acknowledges that this quite remarkable and tremendous service will never be equalled. Other departures from the Executive this year include Dave Taylor, Paul Clark, Richard Long and Darren Rainbird following their many years’ service.
As the Executive Committee we are joined by Hester Blewit as Secretary (Ward End), David Read (Ward End), Yvonne Brookes (Pereira Rd), Sue Griffith (Harborne Hill), Keith Yardley (Station Road), and Ross White (Harborne Lane).
A great deal has changed over recent years and the Executive Committee agree that developments within BDAC are needed to fit with Birmingham City Council changes for it to remain relevant to its members and other stakeholders. We are considering how best to assess the changes needed and how they can be best implemented in a timely fashion. We acknowledge there is much to do but we look forward to embracing the challenge to bring positive advances. Bringing in a new era is very exciting and the better we can engage with those we represent the more effective we can be.
